Interested In Joining The Color Guard??
We are so glad that you are interested in joining our program. All of the information below is here to give you a better idea of
what we are all about. Please scroll through all the pages about our program and hopefully they will answer the many
questions you may have. After you have read through all the information and if you still have any questions about our

How Do I Sign Up?
Its simple. First you must fill out our online sign up form to let us know you are coming to the auditions. Next, just show up
ready to audition for the color guard. ITS THAT EASY! Please read the information below on what you will need for the
auditions
How can I learn more about guard?
We want you to know as much as you can about out program before you audition. Please follow several of the links below
to learn more about out program. We have several videos for you to watch along with a detailed look into what we do in the
fall and spring semesters. We also have a letter to parents explaining some of the educational benefits of joining our
program. If you still have questions, please do not worry. We will be happy to answer all of your questions at the auditions,

Why should I be on color guard?
As a member of the MBHS Guard you will earn your PE and Fine Arts credit at the same time! The class meets during the
school day and after school rehearsals. Every student who joins the color guard receives extensive training in dance,
equipment training, and performance technique. As a member of the color guard every member receives...
- Extensive education in dance (ballet, modern, and expressive movement)
- Learn how to spin different types of equipment (flags, rifle, sabers)
- Huge Field trips (Washington DC, South Padre, Disneyworld, etc..)
- High school football games
- Competitions across the state
- Really fun dances and parties
- Compete on a Varsity level your freshmen year
- Leadership Opportunities
- Make many new friends
- A member of the award winning McKinney Boyd Bronco Band!
- Be a part of a huge family
What should I bring to the tryout?
If you would like to be a member of the color guard, please fill out the online form above and let us know you will be there.
After that, all you need to do is show up. Tryouts are not hard at all. There are many things we will teach you in the four days
you will be with us. Here are some of the things you will learn...
* Basic Dance Technique
* Basic flag technique
* Movement Skills
* An easy tryout routine
* An opportunity to meet really cool people!
To be considered for membership all those who tryout must attend ALL the tryout rehearsals throughout the week. If you
have any conflicts, please contact Jason Myers at jmyers@mckinneyisd.net
You will only need yourself, clothes to work out in, and a positive attitude. We will provide you will all the equipment you will
need. We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and energetic students to be a part of our organization. The color guard is
growing very fast and we are looking to increase our numbers. We have plenty of open slots for next year. Tryouts are very
easy and we do not expect you to master all the skills we teach you. We are looking for your ability to master these skills in
time. If you have a great positive attitude, willingness to succeed, and work very hard, you will have a great shot at being
accepted into the color guard. Dont be scared. Come and see what we are all about. You will have more fun than you can
possibly imagine!
