Welcome to the new website for the McKinney Boyd Color Guard. We hope you like the new design. Please look around the site. You will see many new pages and updated information. Please remember that we are still building the site, so some pages are still being updated. Hope you enjoy it! Hopefully our new design will atract more vistors to our site! If you have any questions or comments, please email me at jmyers@mckinneyisd.net. Please note that our old site is still online and the address for this new site is only temporary. Huge Success For The MBHS Winter Guards

Congratulations to the ladies of the McKinney Boyd Winter Guards!! On Saturday, January 22, 2011 the MBHS Winter Guards traveled to Arlington Martin High School to compete in the Martin Winter Guard Contest. The McKinney Boyd JV Winter Guard had an amazing performance and placed 2nd in their very first competition ever and with highest score ever in the Regional class division this early in the season! The JV guard was also promoted 3 classes to the Scholastic AAA class. This is the highest promotion ever in the history of our program!

The McKinney Boyd Varsity Winter Guard in their very first season in one of the most competitive classes in the nation placed 1st in the Scholastic A class scoring an unbelievable high score of a 67.7! This is a very high score for the beginning of the season and one of the highest scores given to a Scholastic A guard in the state of Texas and in the nation!! Congratulations to both the JV and Varsity guards for an amazing historic night! We are all proud of you!!!

Saturdays Area Contest Schedule Now Posted

The link below is the student itinerary for this Saturday’s UIL Area Marching Band Contest. Please note the 6:00 AM arrival for students! Tickets for spectators are $5.  Patches for student letter jackets will also be available for $3.75 at the contest site. As always, arrive early, sit together, wear red and cheer loud!

Also is the contest schedule for Saturday’s UIL Area B Contest.  23 band will compete in prelims with the top 10 advancing to finals that evening and the top 4 in finals advancing to the UIL State Contest to be held on Tuesday, November 2nd in the San Antonio Alamodome. Our Area B is widely considered to be a sneak preview of the state finals with the advancing bands from our area traditionaly advancing to state finals with one winning the State Championship!  Advancing bands from Area B have taken the top two spots in the state finals for the past decade!!

Family Marching Night / Silent Auction

The annual Family Marching Night will be held on Friday evening, September 24th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. @ MBHS. This is a “not to be missed” event. The evening will be jam-packed with activities and fun! The band students will practice from 3:00 – 6:00 that day. Parents and family members should arrive by 6:00 p.m. and assemble on the bleachers of the main football field. At 6:00, Director Joe Nuñez will start off the evening with an explanation of the 2010 Show, “Enchantment”. Then, family members will the Family Night will join their student on the field for a crash course in marching. After marching, we’ll head inside to the cafeteria for a dinner catered by Outback Steakhouse (Hamburger or Chicken, tickets only $8 each!). Silent Auction items will be on display and we’ve added a new feature to the auction this year, “Take the Cake” (details to follow). At the conclusion of the auction, the Letter Jacket Awards will begin. Parents, be sure to bring your cameras if your student will be receiving their jacket this year! A flyer will be sent home with students next week and will include a Ticket Order form and a Silent Auction donation form. Volunteers are needed to assist with the evening’s activities. Summer Band and Guard Camp is Done!

Congratulations to the members of the McKinney Boyd Color Guard for an absolutely wonderful summer band and guard camp. For the past 4 weeks the members of the MBHS Color Guard have been working very hard to learn their 2010 contest show “Enchantment.” The ladies of the guard have learned the entire first half of the show and now are preparing for the first football game of the season. Our first performance will be on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Ron Poe stadium against McKinney North High School. Thank you ladies for such a great start of the season! We are so proud of all of your hard work!
